Aged Care Events: ‘Bring it to the Table’ for Dementia

on Wednesday, November 27, 2013

Alzheimer’s Australia is encouraging people to participate in their ‘Bring it to the Table’ fundraiser to raise money for Alzheimer’s Australia’s fight against dementia.

Alzheimer’s Australia is asking people across Australia to invite their friends, family members or work colleagues for a high tea, sit-down dinner, games night or picnic in June, to help raise awareness of dementia and raise funds for services and research. Alzheimer’s Australia has over 20 fundraising ideas on their website to spread the word about dementia in the community and raise funds which may one day lead to a cure for the disease.

According to the organisation, more than 321,000 Australians are living with dementia and that number is set to rise to 1 million by 2050 if a cure is not found or better treatment is not developed.

The organisation is also concerned about the alarming increase of younger on-set dementia, those who are younger than 65 when they are diagnosed.
