Aged Care Industry: New LASA CEO Announced

Aged care industry body Leading Age Services Australia (LASA) have announced that Patrick Reid will act as the new CEO starting from 7TH of February, 2013. Mr Reid will be replacing Gerard Mansour who announced he would be stepping down last October to support a family member with a private medical issue.Chairman, General Peter Cosgrove made the announcement and said that Mr Reid’s appointment was “a real triumph for LASA and the aged care sector.”

 

Mr Reid has experience as an elected official and senior executive with The Pharmacy Guild of Australia. He has been involved in negotiating and implementing many aspects of the Community Pharmacy Agreements and has considerable experience in the health care industry.

“As a pharmacist I understand the challenges facing the aged care sector and particularly those charged with caring for and housing older Australians” he said.

LASA acknowledged Mr Mansour’s work as inaugural CEO and that family is ‘everyone’s first priority.’

“LASA has achieved much in its first year of operation. We are now established as the peak body in the aged care industry….2013 will be a very important year for aged care reform and we are well placed to lead this process on behalf of our members” said Gen Cosgrove.
