ACH Group Welcomes Sun-Life Visitors

on Wednesday, August 29, 2018

Leading not-for-profit aged care provider ACH Group has welcomed a group of 12 aged care workers from Sun-Life, an aged care organisation based in Japan.

This week, they will meet ACH Group staff and customers to learn more about healthy ageing, supporting people to live independently at home for longer and the latest in information communication technology (ICT). They will also hear about ACH Group’s strategies to reduce employee turnover, its volunteer program, range of specialist dementia care services, productivity and marketing strategies.

The group was welcomed at Kapara Residential home by a traditional ‘Welcome to Country’ ceremony performed by Aboriginal dance group Yellaka and exchanged handmade gifts with residents.

Other activities planned this week include an art class at Colton Court, McLaren Vale, exercise class at lunch at Perry Park, Port Noarlunga, visits to Elkanah Retirement Village at Morphett Vale and the Health Studio 50+ at Glenelg, a dance class at Payneham, visits to Melba’s Chocolates at Woodside, the Lobethal Bakery, Woodside Cheesewrights, Beerenberg, Mount Lofty Summit and Gorge Wildlife Park.

In its 11th year, the Sun-Life exchange program involves annual visits to Australia and bi-annual visits by ACH Group employees to Japan.

ACH Group Learning and Development Manager Rebecca Burns said: “The program is an exciting opportunity for both Japanese care workers and ACH Group staff members learn about aged care services from the perspective of a different culture.”

A delegation from ACH Group who travelled to Japan in October as part of the exchange will help as hosts and translators on this visit.
