Benetas Awards Exceptional Employees on Aged Care Employee Day

As Australia recognised over 360,000 aged care workers on Aged Care Employee Day, Victorian not-for-profit aged care provider, Benetas, joined the chorus by honouring exceptional employees who’ve gone above and beyond this year.

Benetas CEO Sandra Hills OAM said that employee recognition this year had never been so important. “Throughout the entirety of this pandemic, our employees have been serving those who are most vulnerable to the virus,” she said.

“They’ve been fronting up each and every day to provide tireless care, connection and humanity to our aged care residents, home care clients and their families who rely on them for essential care in this very challenging environment.”

Each year, Benetas awards three employees across the organisation who are nominated by their peers for demonstrating the organisational values together with unwavering dedication and genuine care for the older Australians whom they serve.

“Whether it be the nurses and personal carers, or the cleaners and support employees, these people are the backbone of our services. I am incredibly proud of our people who, despite the turbulence and pressure, continue to make a positive and notable contribution to our community,” Ms Hills said.

This year Benetas announced their Aged Care Employee Day award recipients as: Allied Health Assistant Nicolette Caggiati-Shortell, Clinical Nurse Consultant Vikki Ough, and Human Resource Business Partner Luke Boreham.

Awardee Mr Boreham said after five and half years of working in aged care at Benetas, it was the people who brings him back every day. “The relationships that we form in this sector are amazing,” he said.

“The people are forever inspiring, as is their dedication to provide the highest quality of care that we can collectively provide.”

In the CEO’s video message to Benetas employees today, Ms Hills said that while celebrating the winners, we must also celebrate each and every one of our workforce for the tremendous resilience, commitment and effort they’ve shown.

“Words cannot express the dedication that so many aged care employees bring to their work each and every day. The absolute least that we can do as a community is say, thank you for caring.”
