Can I Still Access Aged Care Services During the COVID-19 Pandemic?

on Monday, September 21, 2020

Yes! You can still access a range of aged care services during this time, and encourage you to make use of support when you can. Aged care providers are still delivering their services, whether that be in-home care or residential care, even if it is in a slightly different way.

If you require urgent aged care services due to COVID-19, the way to access care has been simplified, with no need for an aged care assessment (ACAT/ACAS).

By using an online directory like Aged Care Online, you’ll be able to search for aged care services in your area. You can call or email a provider directly to find out what local restrictions might impact your care.

Care staff have been trained to deliver aged care services safely by using personal protective equipment (PPE), practicing physical distancing when delivering services, preventing and controlling infections and managing an outbreak if one occurs.

If you are a carer and need support during this time, you can access a range of respite care services that are designed to give you a break and maintain your own health and wellbeing. You can find your local provider of respite care services using Aged Care Online.
