Benetas Wins Victorian Respite Grant

on Thursday, November 4, 2021

Leading aged care service provider Benetas, has won the recent Victorian Government Additional Respite Funding 2021- 2022 Grant valued at $130,000 for Victorian families. The grant means that Benetas can offer a further 1,300 hours of respite to support 65 approved carers across Victoria.

With 81 applications from a variety of organisations, Benetas was chosen as a best fit to expand this important service caring for older Victorians and providing much needed respite for their carers.

Benetas plans to utilise this grant to offer greater respite options that are either culturally or individually appropriate, including day programs, overnight or short term respite, within a residential home and even in-home respite.

Benetas CEO Sandra Hills OAM said the organisation was thrilled to win the grant.

“Respite is as much about the carer as it is about the care of a loved one,” she said.

”For Benetas to be in a position to support more families, and to do so via a range of settings, will actually make a real difference to many people’s lives.”

Respite means carers can take a break with the confidence that their loved one is still well cared for. Carers are often spouses, adult children, siblings or other family members so when respite becomes more accessible to more families it can benefit whole communities.

Benetas onsite respite is available across Victoria in Williamstown, Frankston, Glenroy, Springvale and Sunshine.
