Resthaven Community Respite Services offer respite in home, extended day respite, overnight care and respite for carers. We have facilities all over South Australia and can help you stay in your home for as long as possible. To assist the emotional health of carers, we also offer counselling, therapy, social, and support groups.

Are you looking for respite, or are you a carer needing extra support in your caring role? Resthaven offers access to useful services and programs for carers which can assist you to stay well and healthy. 

The support we offer is flexible; choose from day or overnight respite in a variety of settings, either at home or at one of our residential sites or cottages.

To sustain your emotional health, we also offer counselling, therapy, social and support groups.

Whatever support you require, you can be confident that Resthaven staff offer caring high quality services. We are highly trained and experienced in meeting the needs of older people, including those who have problems associated with memory loss or confusion.

We offer:

  • Residential Respite – short-term overnight accommodation at one of our residential sites across South Australia.
  • In home Respite – we come to the home of the person being cared for.
  • Group Respite – our day respite programs include respite clubs, small group respite, respite for working carers, or extended day respite at one of our home-like cottages.
  • Respite Cottages – planned, short-term overnight respite in a home-style environment in metropolitan Adelaide and country South Australia.
  • Carer Support Groups – we provide information, referrals, support groups, social groups, therapy and allied health services and counselling.

Reviewing an aged care provider is a great way to share your thoughts. But please follow the policies listed below when writing a review.

  • Conflict of interest: Reviews are most valuable when they are honest and unbiased. Please do not review your own aged care service or that of a competitor.
  • Off-topic reviews: Do not post reviews based on a third party experience, they must be your own. Our reviews are not a forum for general political or social commentary or personal rants.
  • Impersonation: Do not post reviews on behalf of other people or misrepresent your identity or connection with the aged care provider you are reviewing.
  • Language: Do not use offensive, profane, or obscene language. We will remove reviews that represent personal attacks.
  • Personal and confidential information: Do not post reviews that contain the personal and confidential information of another person.
  • Spam Content: Please no spam. Reviews should be a genuine reflection of your experience with an aged care provider. Do not include promotional content or advertising in any form. Duplicate material will not be accepted.
  • Telephone Numbers and Web Links: To prevent adverts and spam, we do not permit phone numbers or web links.
  • Hate Speech: We do not allow reviews that advocate against people based on their ethnic origin, religion, gender, disability, sexual orientation or age.
  • Aged Care Reviews is not a complaints system. Reviews must be fair and reasonable. Any defamatory statements reflecting a personal experience that has not yet been taken up with the respective provider will not be accepted. If you have a personal complaint to make about an aged care facility we encourage you to contact your provider directly using the details provided on their listing. Alternatively you can submit a complaint via the Government’s Aged Care Complaints Scheme.

Growing up in Prospect with her parents and three siblings, Joan remembers the hardship of the Great Depression. Times were difficult then - hard work meant everything.

Resthaven Home Support Workers Make a Difference

Sitting at a café in North Brighton, having a chat over coffee, it’s hard to believe that Home Support Workers, Michael and Greg, are at work – but they are! As Home Support Workers for Resthaven Community Respite Services, part of their job is to facilitate the weekly ‘Men About Town’ social group, taking a group of older gentlemen out for a range of cultural outings, followed by coffee and cake at any number of local cafés.
