The bright, sun-flooded upstairs patio of Wesley Mission Queensland Knowles Court aged care community in Sinnamon Park is beginning to look like a jungle. Every week there are more and more pot plants covering every corner – it’s a riot of succulents, aloe vera, spider plants, and potted colour – even the occasional fern. Old Man’s Beard hangs from the upper-most branches of a rather large jade plant. Brian, a resident at Knowles Court, gestures to the jade plant as he walks out onto the patio. “That thing grows like crazy,” he says. “It’s easy to get cuttings from that and pot them up in new pots.”
In late January, MannaCare commenced Stage 2 of its major capital works project which will upgrade and modernise the facilities for residents, staff, volunteers and visitors. The redevelopment will ensure MannaCare meets current best practice, provides contemporary amenities and at the same time keeps up with consumer demand.
Western Victorian aged care providers from as far afield as Ballan, Stawell and Casterton converged last week at Lyndoch Living to discuss future challenges and opportunities in this dynamic and evolving sector with Federal Minister for Aged Care, the Hon Ken Wyatt MP.
