Community-minded, Resthaven Murray Mallee Hills Community Services client, Mrs Daphne Cartmel (nee Lawrie) has spent her life pouring her energy into causes that have had a large impact on those around her. Turning 100 on 13 January, 2025, Daphne has baked pasties for the local hospital auxiliary group, taken on key roles in volunteer associations, and played the piano for various groups, for many years.

SummitCare’s Suzanne (Suzie) Stevens, Manager, Care and Wellbeing, Baulkham Hills, recently received the highest Royal Humane Society of NSW Award for the most outstanding act of bravery.

Presented by the Governor of NSW on 21 November 2024, Suzie was awarded a Gold Medal and their highest award, the Galleghan Award, for her courage. “I am extremely honoured,” Suzie said humbly. “I didn’t think what I did was brave. I’m still struggling to accept that what I did was brave.”
