Australia's Oldest Man Knits Mini Jumpers for Injured Penguins

At 109 years old, Alfred ‘Alfie’ Date is Australia’s oldest man. Living in a retirement home on the New South Wales Central Coast, Alfie was asked by two nurses to help make the sweaters – putting his 80 years of knitting skills to good use. 

More Support for People with Severe Symptoms of Dementia in Aged Care

To Kill a Mockingbird author to publish a second novel

It has been over 50 years since To Kill a Mockingbird was first published, the one and only novel by author Harper Lee. However, it was announced today that Ms. Lee, now 88, completed another novel in the 1950s. The 304-page book is titled Go Set a Watchman and is a sequel of sorts to her famed To Kill a Mockingbird.

More than 12 years ago, a report called 2020: A Vision for Aged Care in Australia was released by the Myer Foundation. The report highlighted the current state of the aged care industry in Australia and made suggestions for changes to be made by 2020.
