Residents from a popular Brisbane aged care home recently jumped on a bike and felt the wind in their hair as they took a scenic tour around their community. Thanks to the not-for-profit organisation Cycling Without Age, the seniors from Regis Salisbury were able to jump on a specially adapted trishaw for a spin around the Brisbane Botanic Gardens and the Southbank.
In early October, the Resthaven Marion residential site community celebrated their biennial ‘Show Day’. Lifestyle Coordinator, Tamara Jacquier, says, "The Royal Adelaide Show was finally back this year, and so was ours! We usually celebrate our Show Day every two years, but we had to cancel the 2020 event due to COVID-19," Tamara explains. "This was the first Show Day in four years, making it an extra special occasion!"
This week marks 20 years since the opening of BlueCross Ashby residential aged care in Ashford Street Lower Templestowe with residents, staff, BlueCross Executive members and Board members, and the local Lord Mayor, Cr Michelle Kleinert, attending to mark the occasion.
Aged care homes in Australia will soon be required to have a nurse on-site 24-hours a day, with one of the government’s aged care reforms passing the Senate today.
