The Hotel Windsor Proudly Presents an Afternoon Tea with Ita Buttrose for Alzheimer's Australia VIC

on Monday, February 29, 2016

Join Australian icon Ita Buttrose AO OBE for an Afternoon Tea for Alzheimer’s Australia Vic at Melbourne’s most cherished grand hotel, The Hotel Windsor on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 March, 2016.

Meet the legendary journalist, Australian of the Year winner, Studio 10 co-host, best-selling author and Alzheimer’s Australia Ambassador as you indulge in exquisite pastries, savoury canapés, traditional scones and ribbon sandwiches presented on three-tiered stands in the stunning, heritage-listed Grand Ballroom.

Upon arrival guests are invited to enjoy a glass of French sparkling wine to accompany an afternoon of delicacies and a menu of fine teas.

On show in the foyer of the hotel from 14-20 March 2016, will be a remarkable display of creative teapot cosies – hand-made by the Royal Melbourne Show’s talented tea cosy community. The incredible creations will be up for silent auction at www.galabid.com throughout the week to raise funds towards Victoria’s fight against dementia. Each original cosy comes with the display teapot and a Marc Newson by Noritake Teapot.

Ita Buttrose has enjoyed an extensive career across media, publishing and business, and is the National Ambassador to Alzheimer’s Australia – the charity and peak body for dementia and related services.

In Melbourne for only two days, Ita will host a weekend of Afternoon Teas at The Hotel Windsor, where she will share stories about her incredible experiences and mingle with all guests to create a unique experience.

Ms Buttrose said, “I’m delighted to be heading to Melbourne for these two fundraising events at The Hotel Windsor and seeing the fabulous tea cosies for myself. This is a unique opportunity to support Alzheimer’s Australia Vic’s work with the increasing numbers of people impacted by dementia so I hope to see many Victorians there.”

All profits raised from the events and auction of the amazing tea cosies will support research and delivery of services for people living with dementia.

Director of The Hotel Windsor, Adi Halim commented, “We are incredibly passionate about the cause and extremely proud to be supporting Alzheimer’s Australia Vic in their fight against dementia by hosting these iconic afternoon tea events with Ita Buttrose.”

Dementia is the second leading cause of death in Australia and there is no cure. There are more than 353,800 Australians living with dementia and there is a new case of dementia every six minutes in this country. Supporting Alzheimer’s Australia Vic is vital to fund improved treatments and provide the best quality of life possible for those living with dementia.

Limited seats are available for each session, and guests are advised to secure tickets early to experience this rare chance to meet Ita Buttrose while supporting an incredibly important cause.
