on Monday, March 7, 2016

The RDNS HomeCare 'Be Healthy Program' is a series of health and wellbeing education sessions presented by RDNS HomeCare in communities across Australia. With the help of their supporters and partners, RDNS HomeCare runs a series of one hour sessions to educate communities on a range of health and wellbeing topics.

The sessions are developed by RDNS HomeCare, a leading national provider of community nursing and home care to older Australians, war veterans and widows, people with disabilities and others; and the RDNS Education and Learning Centre, an Australian registered training organisation.

RDNS HomeCare are well placed to share health and wellbeing information in the community and the sessions are often free of charge or require a simple gold coin donation, depending on the location.

Session topics include:

  • Enjoy life to the fullest

'Enjoy life to the fullest' is a community information session all about bladder health.

There are 4.8 million Australians living with bladder weakness. It is a common condition, so if it's something that you face in your daily life, you are not alone.

This information session will teach you simple tips for improved bladder control and exercises to help reduce your risk of future bladder problems. Enjoy life with no interruptions!

  • Healthy brain, healthy body

'Healthy brain, healthy body' is a community information session about positive ageing.

Did you know that longevity is 30% due to genetics and 70% due to your environment? Happy people live longer, have stronger immune systems and have improved coping skills.

This information session will introduce you to the six factors of positive ageing so you can learn how to experience happiness and satisfaction at any age.

  • Keeping your skin healthy

'Keeping your skin healthy' is a community information session about skin health and nutrition.

Did you know that the average person's skin weighs 4kg, has a surface area of 1.75m and account for 7% of their body weight?

Skin changes as we age and is less able to protect and heal itself. What we eat and drink is of great importance to help nourish and improve skin health.

This information session will teach you techniques to help improve and maintain your skin health so you can feel healthy and confident in your own skin.

  • Master your mind

'Master your mind' is a community information session about managing symptoms of stress. It also touches on hearing loss.

Is stress affecting you in your day to day life? Take a deep breath and relax - mindfullness starts now.

This information session will give you the tools to recognise, manage and help prevent unhealthy levels of stress. It will also discuss how hearing loss can affect your life and teach you mindfulness techniques to help you deal with challenges like hearing loss or feelings of stress.

  • Peace of mind

'Peace of mind' is a community information session that will teach you the basics of CPR and defibrillation.

What is more important than knowing how to potentially save a life? In an emergency situation, acting in the first few minutes could mean the difference between life and death.

This information session will teach you the basics of resuscitation, as well as how to unpack, apply and follow the prompts of a defibrillator. No previous training is neccessary.

  • You only get out what you put in

'You only get out what you put in' is a community information session about nutrition and healthy eating.

"Who could live without flavour? Flavour is pleasure as well as health. It's so vital to life" - Maggie Beer

This information session will teach you about nutrition and how you can get the most out of your meals every day. Plus, you will receive free recipes from Maggie Beer Foundation and RDNS HomeCare so you can turn your new knowledge of nutrition into beautiful, delicious meals.
