Uniting AgeWell Launches A New Conversation About Ageing

on Monday, April 11, 2016

Uniting AgeWell has relaunched its hugely popular study resource aimed at stimulating conversations about ageing.

A New Conversation About Ageing reflects on the challenges of an ageing population and preparing to age as well as possible as people grow older, within a theological framework.

Uniting AgeWell Director of Mission Rev John Clarke says the study resource was developed under Uniting Aged Care and has been relaunched to reflect the new name of the organisation, and the Uniting AgeWell style.

“It contains the same studies and messages that have so far proven to be popular among congregations in Victoria and Tasmania,” he said.

“Congregations tell us the four studies engage with the real challenges of ageing and helped them to explore meaning as they discussed these together.”

In partnership with the Centre for Theology and Ministry and with input from local and international sources, the studies bring a wide breadth of insight to each topic.

“AgeWell is the name of Uniting AgeWell’s evolving approach to the growing needs of older Australian, and operates on a wellness model rather than the conventional focus on sickness and decline,” John said.

John said they hoped to develop further study resources that continued the conversation on ageing and was keen to receive feedback or ideas.
