COVID-19 Accelerates Aged Care Digital Communications Platform

on Tuesday, August 25, 2020

A new fully-digital platform that allows aged care facilities to set up secure updates for residents’ families is launching via Swift. The new platform is highly adaptable, allowing audiences of one, to unlimited numbers of family members.

Swift Media specialises in creating communication platforms for people and communities experiencing isolation. With the onset of COVID-19, the company has accelerated its development programs, particularly for the aged care industry by refining its ‘My Family My Community’ application. The app can now be installed remotely, with no need for additional hardware or on-site access.

Aged care facilities can use the ‘My Family My Community’ app to share photos and notifications with family members who are unable to visit because of lockdown restrictions.

The app is also designed to share photos and videos on developments around facilities such as events or social activities, with the intent to help residents feel more connected to their families.

“The app is a specialist platform that is more secure than many of the general social networking platforms available online,” said Swift CEO Pippa Leary. “People anywhere in the world can receive facility updates, giving them instant, personalised reassurance.”

“While governments and society are working through protecting our population from COVID-19, aged care facilities will continue to manage isolation as a constant in their businesses. ‘My Family My Community’ is a solution to COVID-enforced isolation, but is also designed for beyond COVID when our ageing population will still deserve state-of-the-art connectivity,” said Leary.
