Eight residents of the BaptistCare Wingara Hamlet in Springwood have been busy with their knitting needles to create 350 ‘police blue’ poppies for a 300 strong police force in memory of fallen colleagues.
Ever wondered if there is a better way to dispose of your old toothbrushes? Ponder no more – the students at Newcastle High School have got it under control. Through the 2019 Colgate Community Garden Challenge, students are collecting used toothbrushes and packaging in a recycling race to be the best in Australia and win a community garden for the school complete with benches, garden beds, and supplies.
Kim Kardashian once managed 72 days of marriage, but Blue Mountains couple, Bernice and John, recently celebrated 72 years of married bliss. Bernice and John, who live together at Catholic Healthcare Bodington Aged Care Home in Wentworth Falls, met and fell in love in 1945 before tying the knot in 1947.
More than a millennium of combined service to aged care is being celebrated this week at Anglican Care facilities in the Hunter, Central Coast and Mid-North Coast. To mark national “Thank You for Working in Aged Care Day” today (Tuesday 10th September) 359 employees will receive recognition for their service, from one year’s employment to 30 years with the aged care group.
