$1.6 million worth of grants to fund dementia research have been announced by Alzheimer’s Australia’s Dementia Research Foundation for young, emerging researchers. The Foundation’s Full Fellowship worth $90,000 per year has been awarded to Dr Timothy Ryan, whose project will look at identifying and validating Alzheimer’s disease biomarkers in red blood cells.Other projects to be funded include research which will examine cognitive training in people with mild cognitive impairment and research into early markers of late-onset Alzheimer’s Disease.
The road to aged care is rarely easy. Aged care provider Bethanie have announced their finalists for the 2012 Bethanie Medallion. The provider called for nominations in October and will announce the winner from the finalists on the 29th of November. The Bethanie Medallion will recognise a range of volunteers and professionals for their outstanding work in the Aged Care sector. Nominations include awards for professional workers in the aged care industry, volunteer organisations, individuals and journalists.
