Bupa Tugun has celebrated its first birthday and the birthdays of three centenarians at the local aged care home.
To celebrate Bupa Tugun’s first birthday, the local community, staff and residents enjoyed a cocktail party and performance by a brass band.
Bupa Tugun’s General Manager, Terri Cause said everyone in the home enjoyed the festivities.
“At Bupa Tugun, we were so excited to celebrate our first birthday with the residents and the local community.
The residents enjoy keeping actively connected with the community, and relish in every opportunity to invite people into their home,” Bupa Tugun’s General Manager, Terri Cause said.
“We officially opened our doors on 14 July 2014, and since then we have had such an extraordinary year. We have an amazing team who are passionate about caring for our residents; we’ve established a choir and we’ve shared a lot of great times with each other.
“Our purpose is to empower all of our residents to live longer, healthier, happier lives. We do this through our ‘Person-First’ approach to care, which means we get to know each and every one of our 155 residents on an individual level, and tailor their care to meet their individual needs and preferences.
“Along with celebrating our first birthday, we also celebrated the birthdays of three centenarians in our home.
“Lorna Dods is the latest resident to join the ‘100s Club’, celebrating her milestone birthday earlier this month. Fellow ‘100s Club’ members include Ernie Fish, who celebrated his 100th birthday last month, and Leo Artemiess, who turned 100 back in May,” Terri said.
Lorna says the secret to a long, healthy and happy life is a loving family, enjoying life and always smiling.
“I’ve been blessed with a lot of great people in my life who fill me with happiness. The secret to living to 100 is always looking at the bright side of life, count your blessings and just enjoy yourself,” Lorna said.
