Melbourne’s Fairytale Puppet Theatre is taking its performance of Sleeping Beauty into aged care homes and respite centres.
Debbie Hannan, Coordinator at Parklands Cottage in New South Wales had Christine from Fairytale Puppet Theatre recently visit her residents and cannot recommend it highly enough to others.
“The show was, for many of our elderly clients, their first experience with puppets. They commented on the theatre, costumes and sound effects,” she said.
Ms Hannan continues, “Christine provides an invitation for clients to interact with the performance and is involved in their responses. There is humour, pathos and romance, combining to produce a very enjoyable puppet experience.”
“The after show interaction with Christine and her puppets rounded off a very pleasant time,” she said.
Sleeping Beauty is in the style of traditional European puppetry with beautiful handcrafted puppets, castle turrets and velvet curtains.
It is live, interactive and supported by sound effects and classical music.
If you are looking for an exciting activity to run in your aged care home or respite centre, Sleeping Beauty may be booked for residents only or as a special event to share with their families and grandchildren.
Each performance is $6 per person with a minimum booking of $240.
