After more than 22 years of service, Hall & Prior Kensington Park Nursing Home carer Colleen Lafrenais retired in July.
At a celebratory lunch held in her honour, staff members discussed their favourite memories of working with Colleen.
Colleen said while she was excited about heading to the United States with her husband for a well-earned holiday, she was sad to be leaving Hall and Prior.
“It’s been really excellent working here,” she said.
“I’ve enjoyed every bit of it, especially working with the residents as well as the lovely team here.
“After my holiday I’m looking forward to spending a lot more time with my grandchildren.”

She said she was introduced to Kensington Park by a friend who already worked there.
“I was working in Myer and Kmart at the time but I came for an interview and they asked me if I could start the next day,” she said.
“I’m probably still on the books at those stores because I never even handed in my notice, I just wanted to get started here.”
The home’s Director of Nursing Catherine Barlow said she had often been approached by relatives of the residents so they could compliment Colleen’s work and compassionate attitude.
“Colleen has worked extremely hard during her time here and she will be missed,” she said.
