Symbolic Earth-Turning to Mark Start of Aurrum Aged Care Build

on Tuesday, May 17, 2016

Last month, federal, state, local and community dignitaries gathered together to attend a formal earth-turning ceremony to mark the official start of construction on Aurrum’s latest aged care development ‘Aurrum Terrigal Drive’ at Erina on the NSW Central Coast.

When completed in mid-2017, the 71-bed development will set a new benchmark for aged care on the New South Wales Central Coast.

Aurrum Chairman Mr David Di Pilla said Aurrum Terrigal Drive will offer residents the finest in lifestyle, technology, health, wellness and dining services.

“This modern, architecturally designed, state-of-the-art aged care residence will offer beautifully appointed private suites, landscaped gardens, an on-site wellness centre with gym, exercise room and day spa and an on-site hairdresser and café,” Mr Di Pilla said.

Aurrum Terrigal Drive will offer low, high and dementia specific care, as well as a comprehensive lifestyle program, allied health services, and a specialist cognitive and Memory Support Unit for residents with dementia.

The $18 million development will also include a Learning & Development training centre for Aurrum’s 400 staff on the NSW Central Coast.

Aurrum is one of Australia’s fastest growing aged care providers with approximately 1,000 aged care beds under operation and development across New South Wales and Victoria.

Aurrum is the largest aged care provider on the New South Wales Central Coast with four existing aged care facilities at Erina, Kincumber, Wyoming and Norah Head.

Federal Member for Robertson Mrs Lucy Wicks MP, praised Aurrum for providing exceptional quality support and care to older residents on the Central Coast.

“I commend Aurrum for the work they do in ensuring older residents on the Central Coast continue to receive the quality care they deserve,” Mrs Wicks said.

Local builder Stevens Construction and Thrum Architects have been engaged to oversee the design and construction of the residence.

At peak construction, Aurrum Terrigal Drive will provide employment opportunities for around 150 local people.

Mrs Wicks said the federal government’s latest round of aged care allocations is driving a wave of development across the sector.

“Around 50 of these residential aged care places are thanks to the Turnbull Government’s latest Aged Care Approvals Round, which will deliver a boost to the sector in our region.”

Federal Member for Robertson Mrs Lucy Wicks MP, the State Member for Terrigal Mr Adam Crouch MP and Gosford City Council Mayor Mr Lawrie McKinna joined Mr Di Pilla on site to mark the important milestone.
