Teenagers Visit Bethanie West Perth Social Centre

on Tuesday, October 11, 2016

Bethanie, one of Western Australia’s most well known not-for-profit aged care and retirement living providers, hosted a group of teens from the MAD (Make a Difference) after school program at Bethanie West Perth Social Centre on Friday 7 October.

Elaine Dalby, Centre Coordinator and Bethanie volunteers helped plan out activities for the seniors and teenagers including Hungry Hippos, magnetic fishing and the centre's favourite, chair hockey. Teams were mixed with the volunteers also joining in for the activities.

“The Bethanie clients that visit Bethanie West Perth Social Centre had a fantastic time with the teenagers. Welcoming everyone with a morning tea introduction, the entire day was full of smiles and laughter,” said Elaine.

“Each year the teenagers underestimate the seniors capabilities with the games, not realising how competent and competitive they actually are. Chair hockey is always the biggest hit and this year the Dockers team took out the Eagles by four just four goals. We are looking forward to next year already."

The day was organised as part of a school holiday project to give back to the community by interacting with the senior clients.
