Veronica Quinn Celebrates Her 103rd Birthday

Last month, RSL Care Baycrest resident Veronica Quinn celebrated her 103rd birthday with friends and family. 

Veronica was treated to a large cake made for her by RSL Care Chelsea Chef Manager Joe Keen. Joe makes all the resident cakes and was very excited to be making his first 103rd Birthday cake. 

Diversional Therapist Karen Harvey is constantly impressed with Veronica’s strength and independence.

“Up until she was 102 Veronica lived on her own and still remains very independent, she has a walker and makes her own way around the site without needing any help,” she said.

“Veronica is a lady who knows exactly what she wants, she is a happy and fun loving person and I don’t see her slowing down anytime soon.

“Everyone at Baycrest loves having her around. She loves socialising with the other residents here and she loves her bingo.”

Veronica Quinn says “the secret to long life is dancing, travelling and to have a happy home and marriage.”

When her husband was in the army she followed him around from posting to posting and said she was very happy to do it as she got to travel around the country and see parts of Australia she had never seen before.

“I have always enjoyed gardening, cards and having people around for parties. I really enjoy being social and making new friends,” she said.

“I feel I have always found life very easy and have had a very happy life.”
