Twilight Aged Care - Horton House Attracts Huge Numbers to Open Day

on Thursday, March 30, 2017

A huge number of visitors enjoyed a day of celebration including entertainment, guided tours and the latest aged care advice and information at Twilight Aged Care’s newly rebuilt Horton House opening event last weekend.

A federal minister and other dignitaries were also in attendance and praised Twilight Aged Care for the high standard of the redevelopment of Horton House and for its contribution to pioneering aged care for women in Australia.

The Open Day was a family-friendly event complete with entertainment by Sing Australia and musicians, kids face painting, BBQ lunch, guided tours and even a Tai Chi masterclass.

The event began with an official opening ceremony presided over by The Honourable Ken Wyatt, AM, MP Minister for Aged Care and Minister for Indigenous Health and Master of Ceremonies and Talking Lifestyle 954 (2UE) broadcaster/journalist, Tim Webster. Other dignitaries in attendance included Gordon Mayor, Jennifer Anderson.

“The Open Day was a resounding success and we received glowing praise for the high level of quality of the Horton House redevelopment. Special thanks should go to the large number of Twilight Aged Care staff who gave up their Saturday to volunteer on the day,” Twilight Aged Care Chief Executive Officer, Lesley Jordan said.

Aged Care organisations including Alzheimer’s Australia showed their support by setting up their Memory Van on the Horton House premises for the Open Day to assist visitors with the latest advice and information about Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease which affects more than 413,106 Australians.*

Horton House, which was originally opened in 1979 as a female-only residence donated from the estate of a prominent local Gordon family, recently underwent a major $16 million redevelopment. The upgrade has elevated the premises into a modern aged care establishment, providing even higher quality aged care services and amenity for the elderly in the community.

Horton House has a very unique offering being in such a convenient location, close to Gordon train station, the Pacific Highway, local shops and other amenities and remaining a female-only facility.
