Aged Care Home Hosts Fair to Support Bourke Street Fund

on Wednesday, April 5, 2017

Regis Aged Care home in Blackburn recently held a Community Fair to raise money for the Bourke Street Fund supporting families who lost loved ones during the tragedy.

Regis Blackburn welcomed families, friends and community members for a day of activities and classic fair entertainment.

Activities included a jumping castle, animal farm and face painting as well as a variety of stalls for guests and residents to visit. There were coffee and ice cream vans, jewellery stalls as well as homemade soap and candles stalls.

Regis residents were delighted to spend the day with the wider Blackburn community as well as contribute to an important cause.

Lifestyle staff member Kayla said, “Families really enjoyed it and were impressed with the variety of stalls and activities. Our residents were also excited about the shopping, coffee and food. Most spend the day outside indulging in a bit of food and good company.”

Earlier this month Regis Blackburn aged care home also hosted an arts exhibit featuring residents’ works of art from Regis’ Art Therapy program as well as an eclectic selection of textiles and crafts from past hobbies and projects.

Local City of Whitehorse Mayor Denise Massoud attended opening the event to the public.

Lifestyle staff commented: “This is our 3rd annual arts and crafts exhibition at Regis Blackburn. The quality and variety of art we’ve had this year showcases the talent of residents. We’re delighted to see so many community members come out to show there support. The project gives our residents a sense of pride and helps them feel part of the wider community.”
