‘On call’ will take on new meaning to residents and staff at Lyndoch Living with a new state of the art communications upgrade going ahead thanks to a $494,000 Regional Health Infrastructure Grant.
Lyndoch Living CEO Doreen Power said the new technology will improve resident care and enhance the skills of the Lyndoch Living workforce.
“This advanced communications system will facilitate improved response times, which will in turn significantly reduce clinical risk to our residents,” Ms Power said.
“The system will also allow for more accurate reporting and will enhance staff security and safety.”
In addition to improved response times and clinical care outcomes, Ms Power said the communications upgrade will enable Lyndoch Living to offer improved Wi-Fi services to residents.
“Technology can provide connectivity for our residents to their family and the broader community. It can be a vital support to their independence and social wellbeing,” she said.
Lyndoch Living has a history of staying ahead of the game by embracing new technologies. They were one of the first local services to roll out Vocera wireless badges across their workforce. Ms Power said that recent advancements in telecommunications have meant Lyndoch’s existing communications system is no longer compatible or supported by existing hardware.
“Changes in government legislation surrounding the Consumer Directed Care model and the NDIS framework will require a focus on improved service delivery and outcomes,” she said.
“As the use of technology, and more so, assistive technology in the health setting continues to gain momentum, so will the services we can offer our residents.
“We believe that residents living in regional Victoria should be availed the same technological improvements, services and advancements as those living in metropolitan areas.
“This innovative new system will be responsive to the changing models of care, whilst at the same time aligning with Lyndoch Living’s values and future strategic direction.”
