Regis Birkdale - 16 Years of Volunteering

on Thursday, April 27, 2017

A key to the smooth operation across Regis aged care facilities is the help and support provided by our team of dedicated volunteers.

More than 1000 people give up their time to assist with a wide range of activities from just sitting and having a chat and cuppa, to accompanying residents on outings, running classes like art and music and even playing a board game or cards.

These volunteers greatly boost the spirits of Regis' elderly residents and ensure a strong connection is maintained to their local community.

The unwavering dedication of volunteers was recently recognised at Regis Birkdale when the Community Visitors Scheme presented the aged care facility with a framed certificate marking 16 years of service.

Volunteers from the Community Visitors Scheme are matched to aged care Regis Birkdale residents to provide companionship that they would otherwise not receive due to family being absent.

Lisa Pawlenko, Lifestyle Coordinator, said the support provided by the team from the Community Visitors Scheme was invaluable and she was deeply honoured to receive this recognition.

If you would like to learn more about volunteering at your local Regis aged care facilities please speak to the Lifestyle Coordinator at your local facility or you can apply on Regis Careers.

National Volunteer week starts 8 of May.
