BlueCross’ Newest Aged Care Residence is Now Open

More than 2000 people visited the brand new BlueCross Ivanhoe residence for its Open Day, late last month. The day was enjoyed with free music, entertainment, barista made coffee, Greek doughnuts and a very popular sausage sizzle! Popular radio presenter, David Mann ‘Mann about town’ made a special visit to BlueCross Ivanhoe and had these things to say about the new home “BlueCross Ivanhoe is quite remarkable…I found out that years and years ago that it was an old milk factory. Who told me that? One of the locals. The fixtures and fitting are beautiful and are all tailored for us as we grow older”.

Visitors were taken on guided tours of this stylish aged care residence which features 178 spacious rooms, a dedicated memory support area, a Men’s Shed, beautiful gardens, communal entertainment areas, hair and beauty salon, day respite centre as well as allied health services. 

BlueCross Ivanhoe’s first resident Bonnie Moody was also recently welcomed to BlueCross Ivanhoe by staff and MP Anthony Carbines, the State Member for Ivanhoe. Although for Bonnie, this felt more like a return home after some major renovations. Bonnie lived at the original residence for over 20 years before it was decommissioned for redevelopment in 2014. Bonnie said she enjoyed the relationship she had with staff and other residents and was glad she could maintain independence by walking to the local shops.
