Perth's Longest Lunch a Winner in its Third Year

on Monday, May 29, 2017

A record-breaking Perth’s Longest Lunch has given Brightwater Care Group the ability to keep dancing to a different beat by injecting more music and enjoyment into the lives of the thousands of older Western Australians.

With almost 1,000 people attending the six-hour long event at Crown Towers on Friday 19 May, attendees enjoyed six-course degustation featuring the very best ingredients from the Great Southern region and some of WA’s finest wines while also pledging their support for Brightwater, to the tune of an impressive $230,000.

The ‘fundraiser-in-disguise’ concept is something which debuted in 2015 and the appetite from Perth’s business community has seen it almost double in size in the past three years, something which has been good news for Brightwater according to CEO Jennifer Lawrence.

“We are thrilled with the way that corporate Perth has embraced this event.

“We know that there are guests who arrive in the room knowing very little about Brightwater and the work we do – but they leave with a very clear understanding that we strive to do things differently, creating opportunities and delighting people in all kinds of ways,” Ms Lawrence said.

In a moment designed to remind attendees why events like this are so meaningful to Brightwater’s clients, guests were introduced to Gaysie Wilson – a vibrant woman in her early 70s with Alzheimer’s – and her family, and given the opportunity to witness how music can make a difference.

“The generosity on the day and the energy in the room is palpable. I wish to thank each and every one who donated to our Life’s Possibilities fund, which we’ll use to run dedicated music programs across our sites,” Ms Lawrence added.

The food also captivated people throughout the afternoon.

A team of 150 kitchen and banqueting Crown Towers’ staff prepared and served in excess of 5,500 individual dishes during the course of the afternoon.

A unique line-up of entertainment also contributed to the day’s atmosphere, including 2015 XFactor stars Jess and Matt; violinist Patrick Roberts who has been likened to the great Andre Rieu; electro-cellist duo Hanna and DJ Chad; and Proof as the house band. The proceedings were held together by MC Shane Jacobson who returned for second helpings after his debut in 2016.

Perth’s Longest Lunch will return to Crown Towers on Friday 18 May 2018.
