on Monday, August 7, 2017

Southern Cross Care’s Philip Kennedy Centre was bursting with energy at the launch of its revamped Health and Wellness Services on Thursday July 27.

Around 50 people attended an official opening that has ushered in new services and refreshed environment, including the new HUR fitness equipment which travelled over 14,000 kilometres from Finland.

Southern Cross Care CEO David Moran provided a passionate speech and thanked those involved.

Two Philip Kennedy Centre residents cut the ribbon with Mayor of Port Adelaide Enfield Gary Johanson to officially open the centre and the day was topped off with an energetic flashmob.

Some local community members had previously sampled the new services at a recent event and one of those, Penny Schiphorst, who has been attending the services at Philip Kennedy Centre for four years, said she was excited to use the new equipment.

“I am excited to get back into the pool … I am looking forward to using the new machines and seeing what works best for me,” she said.

And now everyone can enjoy the new services and timetable which includes include a variety of exercise, social and mind relaxation programs, including specialised Chi Ball, Tai Chi, BoxFit and Aqua Aerobics.  Southern Cross Care’s Philip Kennedy Centre will also be offering bus trips, social programs and health education seminars.

Group Manager of Connected Living – Community Wellness & Lifestyle, Tim Henwood, addressed the excited crowd and said the new Health and Wellness Services would allow people to be as active as they liked.

“We will design programs specifically for you and we will be working with you to get healthy,” he said.

“We have changed our environments so they are vibrant and exciting – our programs are well rounded and we will be looking at your overall wellbeing.”

The new space is bright and motivating, while specialised exercise and wellness programs will be run by qualified allied health professionals and fitness leaders.

Located in Largs Bay, and as part of the Phillip Kennedy Centre, this is a modern, fully-equipped wellbeing space, providing a host of therapies to help clients live a full life.
