To celebrate Queensland Seniors Week (19-27 August), Wesley Mission Queensland has unveiled an engaging photography exhibition featuring portraits of eight inspirational seniors in our community.
From a ‘virtual’ walker to amateur ballroom dancers, the showcase celebrates the rich diversity of seniors and proof that age is no barrier.
Wesley Mission Queensland has been sharing in the lives of seniors for more than 80 years, since opening Queensland’s first community for seniors, The Garden Settlement, in 1936.
Even though Australia’s population is ageing, we know that seniors we meet are embracing their later years with a zest for life.
Seniors are working longer, volunteering more, staying in their own homes as they age, enjoying increased levels of health and fitness, using new technologies to connect with family and friends, and enjoying the ease of travel like no other generation in history.
The ‘Wise Matters’ Photographic Exhibition represents just a few stories of seniors in our community ageing positively and enthusiastically.
The Wise Matters photography exhibition will be on display until August 27th at the Chermside Library.
