Venton Harding has been dying to meet his beloved Knights team since he moved to Newcastle 12 years ago. Last week, that wish came true.
Venton, a resident of Catholic Healthcare’s St John’s Villa in New Lambton, has his room decorated from floor to ceiling in nib Newcastle Knights paraphernalia, and just this year managed to save up his pennies to become a member of the Club for the first time.
He attended his first ever home game last week, despite just undergoing two hip replacements and remaining confined to a wheelchair.
Upon hearing about his passion and support, the Club invited Venton down to Wests Mayfield, where he could exclusively watch the Knights team train then meet and chat to all the players.
Venton walked away from the session with two signed branded caps, two jerseys and a huge smile painted across his face.
“I’m absolutely speechless,” he described the meet and greet. “It’s been the most amazing day.”
