The Hon Christopher Pyne – Federal Member for Sturt Officially Opens Regis Burnside

The Hon Christopher Pyne, Minister for Defence Industry, Leader of the House, and Federal Member for Sturt last week attended the Official Opening celebration of the state of the art aged care residence - Regis Burnside. 

Mr Pyne was joined by Regis Healthcare (Regis) CEO and Executive Director, Mr Ross Johnston, industry providers, placement agencies, local dignitaries, residents, families and Regis staff.

Minister Pyne said the new facility will ensure quality aged care is available in the Burnside area, which is increasingly important for our ageing population.

“Regis is committed to proving quality aged care and continues to grow in the South Australian aged care industry with 200 places coming online in Adelaide in the past 18 months and I congratulate them on the opening of their new Burnside aged care facility,” Mr Pyne said.

After a varied history beginning as a girls’ probationary home in 1905, then becoming in time a men’s retreat and finally an aged care home, Regis purchased the site from the Salvation Army in July 2005.

Regis Burnside Nursing Home was closed to residents in June 2016 with construction of this 113 room building beginning in November 2016. Opened early in 2018, the site was renamed Regis Burnside.

The architects and design team have worked very hard with the local community to create a building that represents South Australia design and is complimentary to the surrounding suburbs. Regis designs its facilities to a high standard taking into account our residents care needs, creating facilities with interiors specific to care types. 

Regis Burnside will set new benchmarks with every stylish detail thoughtfully designed for both residents and families to enjoy. The construction of this facility and the investment in new aged care beds highlights Regis’ commitment to building outstanding person focused aged care facilities not only in Burnside but also across the country.
