Bess Bryant recently celebrated her 100th birthday at TLC Aged Care’s home in Donvale with a tabletop dance to remember.
Bess was surrounded by family, friends, the residents and staff of The Heights to celebrate her milestone birthday with a ‘bucket list tick’. For a long time Bess has wanted to dance on a table, and the team at The Heights came up with a novel way to make that happen. A table was a dismantled, and the top placed at a practical height so that Bess was able to get her groove on.
Florence (Bess) Bryant was born in Castlemaine, Victoria in 1918. As a young child, her family relocated to Bendigo where she lived until eighteen years of age. Having spent her early years in Bendigo, Bess made many life-long friends in the area. Bess and her husband, Allan, ran a hotel for over 10 years, and she then decided to have a career change. Bess went on to become a teacher, and later the head mistress of the school.
Bess’ friends commented “everyone who knows Bess agrees that she is the most loving and caring woman around.” Bess is very happy at The Heights and says “I’m so lucky to be here and have great care and friends.”
