A group of men from Arcare’s Craigieburn aged care residence have struck up a wonderful friendship with Australian boxing champion Michael Zerafa.
Despite a strict training schedule, Michael finds the time to visit the aged care home and teach a group of residents some boxing techniques.
26-year-old Michael is a Craigieburn local and a familiar face with the community at Arcare. He is currently training for the Commonwealth World Title in June where he faces a tough competition with Anthony Mundine at Hisense Arena in front of 12,000 people.
The friendship between Michael and residents is very special and recently a few men from the group went to watch Michael compete in the WBA Oceania Middleweight competition.
For one resident, Barry ‘Gabby’ Nolan, his friendship with Michael is particularly special as he enjoyed a sporting career himself – even a stint in boxing!
