Christmas in July Brings Festive Cheer To Residents at Bolton Clarke’s Talbarra Community

on Tuesday, July 17, 2018

Residents, families, staff and volunteers at Bolton Clarke’s Talbarra Community in Waterford, Queensland used the cooler weather as an excuse to enjoy all the traditional trimmings at their Christmas in July celebration this month.

Entertainment was provided by local musician, Cameron Smith, who kept everyone entertained with Christmas carols, festive jokes and songs from the 50’s and 60’s.

The food services team prepared a special lunch of baked chicken breast, wrapped in bacon, served with hollandaise sauce and crispy sweet potato chips, with a dessert of pudding with golden syrup and fresh cream.

Talbarra Diversional Therapist, Angie Corrigan, and her team of volunteers dressed the venue with tinsel, Christmas crackers and Christmas tree centerpieces. Many team members donned Santa hats for the occasion.

“We wanted to create a playful, fun atmosphere for this special event,” said Angie.

Residents were given lucky door tickets and several prizes were given away, including blankets and purses which contributed to the festive atmosphere.

A wonderful time was enjoyed by everyone who attended.

As resident Elsie Hamey said “…it was just the nicest day.”

“The atmosphere was really good, as was the music,” resident Mavis Edwards said.
