Lifeview Residential Care’s residents hit the high note last week when they attended the company’s annual Positive Ageing Celebration – Lifeview’s Strictly Dancing.
The event saw over 250 people including residents, family and friends attend a dinner dance put on in their honour. With professional ballroom dancers performing and joining residents on the dance floor, the partygoers danced the night away to the sounds of the Pearly Shells Big Band.
Special guest on the evening was Dementia Australia Ambassador and Australian icon Ita Buttrose AO OBE, who generously gave of her time to address the function on her experiences and thoughts on positive ageing, and to meet, talk and have photos taken with many of the residents.
Resident Allen Husson said he was honored to have met and chatted to Ita, who he has admired from afar for many years, “She was wonderful, gracious and interested in what we are doing, to meet an Australian legend is something I will remember for a very long time”.
Lifeview CEO Madeline Gall added to Allen’s sentiments saying, “To have Ita Buttrose attend this annual event is not only a great endorsement for our Positive Ageing Celebration but to have someone of her caliber, who is a shining light when it comes to ageing positively, and who lends her name to so many worthwhile causes present, is a huge privilege”.
Each year, Lifeview hosts it’s unique and award-winning Positive Ageing Celebration, a highlight event for residents and staff from all four homes. This annual event coincides with the Victorian Seniors Festival and is a time to come together, to recognise and show appreciation to our elders for the achievements they’ve made in their lives, and their contribution to their family and the wider community.
This year’s event, Lifeview’s Strictly Dancing, stemmed from resident requests to dress up for the evening and attend a dinner dance.
