CraigCare Announces Partnership in Developing Age Friendly Charter in Albany

on Wednesday, December 5, 2018

CraigCare Albany have announced that they are working in partnership with the City of Albany WA, other aged care providers and community service providers and a community panel on the development of the Age Friendly Charter for the Greater Southern Region in Western Australia.

An Age-Friendly community is one in which governments, service providers, public officials, community leaders and business:

  • Recognise the great diversity among older people
  • Promote their inclusion in all areas of community life
  • Respect their decisions and lifestyle choice
  • Anticipate and respond flexibly to ageing-related needs and preferences

The City of Albany, with the Western Australian Primary Health Alliance (WAPHA), have secured funding to create an Age Friendly Charter for the Lower Great Southern including, City of Albany, Shire of Denmark and the Shire of Plantagenet in Western Australia.

The first meeting has been held, agreement on the terms of reference has been reached and a brainstorming session to identify goals and areas of focus has taken place.  Stay tuned for more updates!
