Royal Freemasons Opens Brand New Aged Care Home in Moe

on Wednesday, December 5, 2018

The Royal Freemasons Moe aged care home was officially opened on Sunday 2nd December 2018 by Latrobe City Mayor Cr Graeme Middlemiss. The Open Day was attended by Latrobe City Councillors, other dignitaries, media as well as hundreds of individuals and families from the local community who were all keen to see the outstanding facility.

Throughout the day, guests listened to music played by the Latrobe Valley Orchestra string quartet, while enjoying complimentary tea, coffee, cakes and barbecued sausages. At the conclusion of the event, visitors were surprised with a special visit by the Newborough Country Fire Association.

The official opening provided an opportunity for local health networks and the public to tour the home and learn how it will support a diverse range of residents and their families.

Trustee of the Royal Freemasons’ Homes of Victoria, Bill Hayes, highlighted how the Home will provide an enormous amount of employment opportunities.

“Royal Freemasons Moe will employ approximately 165 people in full and permanent part time roles. There will also be a further 25 people employed on a casual basis to cover personal leave provisions. We anticipate a total of 190 staff will be required to deliver care and services to residents, most of whom will be local to Moe and the surrounding localities.”

Cr Graeme Middlemiss added, “this is one of the best Aged Care Homes in the area and will provide much needed jobs to the Valley.”

Royal Freemasons Moe will deliver private rooms for 144 residents that cater for couples and single people, and those needing specialised care from the Memory Support team. There are a variety of spacious rooms on offer, all with direct access to manicured gardens and private ensuites. The Home will be welcoming its first residents on 10th December 2018, and several rooms have already been reserved.
