Bolton Clarke Inverpine volunteer Margaret Crosby has been awarded the Dickson Local Legend Award on Australia Day for her many years of community as a volunteer with a number of charities and organisations.
Margaret remains extremely humble about her award saying she did not expect to be recognised in this way and had to be tricked into attending the ceremony.
“I never did it for recognition, I did it because I could. It’s just a case of getting in the car and off you go to your next job,” she said.
“I started off working at Fernhill in Caboolture from 1990 to 1999 and I have been volunterring at Inverpine for the last nine years. It’s been great to stay with the Bolton Clarke family.”
Margaret does a whole array of activities with residents from cooking and crafts to pampering sessions. She is highly regarded around the site with residents, team members and volunteers alike.
In addition to volunteering at the Inverpine community Margaret dedicates her time to other charities including Meals on Wheels and the Salvation Army, working on events and fundraising.
“Volunteering has kept me busy and I love to do it – it’s the connections I make with the people I’m helping that keep me coming back for more,” she said.
Inverpine Activities Coordinator Rekha Singh said Margaret was a treasured member of the Inverpine family.
“You can see the residents’ faces light up when she walks into the room – she absolutely has a gift in making them feel special and they love interacting with her,” she said.
