New Aged Care Residence in Malvern East Opens its Doors to Public

on Monday, August 19, 2019

BlueCross Cresthaven, the newest aged care residence in Malvern East, is opening in September and the public has been invited to come for a tour on Saturday 24 August 2019.

Located at 1A The Avenue in Malvern East, the Open Day at BlueCross Cresthaven runs from 10.00am to 4.00pm and visitors will be treated to finger food, all day entertainment and barista-made coffee.

Pat Panetta, one of Melbourne’s most loved and versatile media presenters, will be on hand to do live to air crosses with radio station 3AW from BlueCross Cresthaven throughout the day.

Comprising three levels plus a basement parking, BlueCross Cresthaven is a redevelopment from the original residence and now boasts 103 rooms and a host of specialist facilities including multiple dining and sitting rooms, a club lounge, library, hairdressing salon, private dining room, as well as a cinema and café.

BlueCross Chief Executive Officer Robert Putamorsi says BlueCross Cresthaven has been custom designed to support ageing in place, making it possible for residents to continue living at the residence even when their care needs change.

“We understand that it can be a daunting experience for an older person to move into residential care, that’s why our residence has been purpose built and designed to create an intimate environment that feels more like home,” says Mr Putamorsi.

“From the multiple dining and sitting rooms to the beautiful landscaped gardens and courtyards, residents can relax and enjoy the abundance of both indoor and outdoor spaces available, giving them a sense of community as well as the privacy they require. The residence also has a winter garden so the outdoors can be enjoyed in any season.

“A lot of planning and thought have been given to the development of this residence to make residents as comfortable as possible. There is also a private dining room for residents to share a private meal with family and friends,” he adds.

Residents will be able to choose from a choice of suites and apartments, all with an ensuite. There is also an option for residents to bring in much-loved pieces from home to personalise their own living space.

With the completion of BlueCross Cresthaven, BlueCross now owns and operates 34 aged care residences across Victoria.

“We are excited with this redeveloped residence and what it has to offer. We look forward to supporting the needs of older people in Malvern East,” says Mr Putamorsi.
