Resthaven Malvern residents have made good on their promise to visit the ‘Jacaranda’ children (aged 3-5) of the Hyde Park Nursery School and ELC, visiting the centre this week for morning tea, a singalong, and a sandpit session.
Lifestyle Coordinator, Felicity Billing, says, "The children have been visiting Resthaven Malvern at 43 Marlborough Street, Malvern, every week since February."
"The visits are a wonderful highlight, with great friendships developing between the children and residents."
"We always promised that one day we would come to them – and today we were delighted to keep that promise!"
"It was a beautiful spring day to walk over to the Hyde Park Nursery School and ELC, which is located within easy walking distance from Resthaven Malvern."
"The group was eagerly greeted by the children looking over the fence, awaiting their arrival."
"As residents entered the centre, the children very politely lined up and greeted each resident."
"After our warm welcome, residents and children joined in a group sing-along of Hokey Pokey, which has become a favourite at our sessions, followed by play doh making, and painting."
"Heading outside, we spent time in the sandpit, and assisted the children to climb trees."
"A highlight for both the children and residents was enjoying ‘cups of tea’ prepared by the children using their play set."
"The children then assisted in serving a real morning tea to residents, which was beautiful to see. They did such a great job."
"The morning was completed with a group story time, where residents shared memories of their own school days."
"It was a wonderful, interactive morning, enjoyed by all."
"We can’t wait to visit the children again soon!"
