Fronditha Care’s new CEO, Michael Malakonas, has officially assumed duties as head of the not-for-profit aged care organisation on October 16.
A strategic executive working at CEO, CFO and COO level, Mr Malakonas brings to the role 30 years of finance, accounting strategy, operations, governance and general management experience, predominantly with the financial services industry.
He is a Fellow CPA, holds a CPA MBA from Deakin University and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is a non-Executive Director of Merri Community Health Services, where he Chairs the Finance and Audit Risk Management Committee.
He is also Treasurer & Secretary of FC Clifton Hill, a Division 1 State League member of Football Victoria.
“I am honoured to have been selected to lead such a well-respected organisation that does invaluable work for the Greek Australian community,” Mr. Malakonas said.
“While my background is in financial services, my passion lies in the community, and I hope to make a worthwhile difference to the lives of our elderly, so they can continue to age with dignity within a model of care that celebrates their heritage and traditions.”
Mr. Malakonas is currently visiting each of Fronditha Care’s sites and meeting its residents, clients and their families, staff, members and volunteers. He is being briefed on Fronditha Care’s extensive programs and service provision and being inducted by Jim Scantsonihas, who stepped in as Acting CEO for the interim period between CEOs.
