It's been all about furry friends at HillView recently, with residents being treated to a special pet therapy session in July. During the pet therapy session put on by Harmony Hooves, residents were able to get up close and personal with a herd of ponies, dogs, goats, chickens and other farm animals.
HillView Ashmore residents enjoyed taking a bus outing to HillView Merrimac to join in the fun, and some family members came along to experience the day. Having the animals at HillView creates a positive and joyful atmosphere among attendees and their families.

Research shows that pet therapy provides a number of benefits to aged care resident well-being. This includes boosting morale, reducing any feelings of stress, boosting activity levels and increasing social interaction. Just patting an animal has a calming effect, and spending time with animals also fosters companionship.

These benefits really showed when Harmony Hooves visited, with the residents sharing anecdotes of animals they have grown up with in their lives and bonding over the animals.
