Arcare Taigum Donates Brand-New Wheelie Walker to Grandmother of Australian Wallabies Vice Captain, Samu Kerevi

on Monday, November 18, 2019

Gathered at the front of the Arcare Taigum residence, a handful of residents and team members got their morning dose of a rugby celebrity.

In early November, Ganesh Sen, the President of the Reach 4 Your Future Foundation, reached out to Arcare for a unique request.

Their program ambassador, Samu Kerevi is preparing to head to Fiji for an education mission.

And during his time there, he will be working with the children in the local community and also taking the time to visit his elderly grandmother.

Due to her mobility issues, Samu and Ganesh had a discussion with Arcare CEO, Colin Singh to find a wheelie walker for her.

The team at Arcare Taigum quickly made arrangements to have a brand-new wheelie walker donated to Samu and his grandmother, to ensure Samu received the walker in time for his visit back home.

“Our team works with this foundation and I’m glad to be a part of it,”

“It's also wonderful for Arcare to donate this walker, so thank you very much.” Samu said.

It was a special moment for one of Arcare Taigum’s residents, Colleen Hayter, as she presented the walker to Samu.

Colleen herself uses a wheelie walker and understands it plays an important role in her ability to go out on bus outings, socialise at activities and meet with friends.

“It is this little gesture of goodwill that will go a long way. We hope Sam’s grandmother will benefit from this wheelie walker,” Arcare Taigum’s Residence Manager Janelle Haylock said.

“At Arcare, we believe in celebrating and supporting our elders and now we have the opportunity to do just that with Sam’s grandmother in Fiji.” Community Marketing Officer Jamie Loh said.
