HillView resident John Taylor and his wife Carole celebrated their 58th Wedding Anniversary last month! Due to our current voluntary lockdown status, Carole wasn’t able to spend time with John in person, but they were definitely together in spirit.
Originally from Perth, John and his family moved to Victoria when John was a teenager, where he met Carole at high school. On the 31st March 1962, John and Carole were married at the Anglican church, Heidelberg (VIC). Two sons later, they made the move to Scarborough (QLD), where Carole says they had the best ten years of their lives, before John’s work for AMCOR took them back to Melbourne. John did much travelling for work for the best part of 10 years, visiting paper mills worldwide. Carole was lucky enough to accompany him on a few occasions, the highlight of which was a wonderful 7-week trip to the USA and Canada. Whilst John worked, Carole took in the delights of the US, loving every minute! Further leisure trips for Carole ensued, to China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Some of Carole’s fondest memories were of holidays spent together, where they were able to share their experiences:
“John especially loved the P&O Cruises, they were so laid back and comfortable, a very relaxing way to see the world. We loved being able to go to dinner or to a show in our casual wear if we wanted, which was John’s preference whilst on holiday. We continued to enjoy cruises together well after John’s dementia diagnosis, exploring the East and West coasts of Australia.”
