Topping Out Ceremony Celebrated at Calvary Newport

on Friday, June 19, 2020

The topping out ceremony was held recently at Calvary Health Care's latest aged care home development in Newport, Victoria. The event, which marks the completion of the development’s construction phase, is a time-honoured tradition within the building industry.

Calvary Health Care CEO, Chris Price, and those involved in the project were joined by Hansen Yuncken and CBRE to celebrate this significant milestone.

State Manager of Hansen Yuncken, Richard Hansen spoke along with Toby Hicks, Calvary Health Care's General Manager of Real Estate, thanking the teams for their efforts and commitment.

“Since we acquired the site in December 2015, it’s been a journey of solid determination and hard work from all those involved, so I’d like to thank all of our architects, construction teams and design partners who have been instrumental in bringing Calvary Newport to life,” said Toby. “It’s great to be able to see and celebrate the achievements at this site so far, and we look forward to welcoming residents later this year to this fantastic, four-storey home.”

The four-storey development enjoys breathtaking views over Newport Lakes and Port Phillip Bay, whilst the rooms on the right of the building boast views of the city skyline.

A key aspect of the topping out ceremony involves erecting a tree at the top of the new site to bring good luck to the building and its future inhabitants. A blackwood tree was placed at Calvary Newport, a species indigenous to Victoria and Tasmania and renowned for its resilience.

The site visit also provided an opportunity for the team to walk the project, and get a feel for the aged care home which will open its doors to residents later this year.
