Resident at Arcare Pimpama Donates Knitted Teddies to Community Group STEPS 4208

on Friday, December 18, 2020

At Arcare Pimpama’s Annual Christmas Party, residents and team members gathered out in the foyer to enjoy a wonderful Christmas carols performance.

Lifestyle Co-ordinator Amanda had also invited some special visitors to the party and they were Sue Haywood, Penny Paterson, Gavin Murphy and Beverly Murphy from the new community group STEPS 4208.

They came by to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere at our residence and to personally deliver gifts for the residents from local MP Michael Crandon and STEPS 4208.

As a nice gesture in return, 81-year-old resident Necia Pearce knitted handmade teddies for the group as part of their Christmas appeal.

“Everyone in my family has a bear from me, my grandchildren and my great grandchildren,” Necia said.

“I enjoy crocheting, knitting and reading in my spare time. And I'm happy to knit these bears for others,” she added.

Arcare Pimpama has recently partnered with STEPS 4208 for a number of events such as the ANZAC Day service and a Christmas-themed motorcycle ride-by.

Together, we aim to raise awareness for mental health among the community by bringing together like-minded people through community events and services.

“Necia’s teddies are a personal gift made with care and love and it’s wonderful for her to share that us and others,”

“We will be donating them to the Children’s Ward at Gold Coast University Hospital for those who cannot make it home for Christmas,” Sue shared.

Amanda, Sue and Necia are looking forward to partnering again in the new year with a variety of exciting events.
