Anchor Excellence ‘A Small Business Making a Big Impact’

on Wednesday, May 12, 2021

International Nurses Day celebrates the important role of nurses each year on the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birthday, the 12th May. A Voice to Lead, A Vision for Future Healthcare, this year’s theme pays homage to the brave and courageous work of nurses around the world.

Anchor Excellence, with the support of Eileen Kramer, and with the endorsement from the Australian College of Nursing, launched the AnchorAcademy New Graduate and New to Industry Program along with the Eileen Kramer Scholarships.

The expressions of interest for the scholarships were open for the month of April and Anchor Excellence was inundated with applications.

The calibre was high and through the selection process three nurses were identified as suitable for the scholarship which commences later this month.

Eileen Kramer will address the group in a special inaugural celebration and the successful nurses will receive a certificate from Eileen welcoming them to the first AnchorAcademy New Grad program.

Eileen Kramer says, ‘I congratulate the nurses and look forward to meeting them all. What a wonderful opportunity to develop their career and make a positive difference to many people in their care and with whom they work.”

Carla Beheram, Chief Operating Officer of Anchor Excellence, entered aged care as a new graduate and see’s the program she and Dr Irene Stein have developed as a vital education pathway in an industry that is undergoing major reform.

Carla Beheram says, ‘"Whilst the challenges right now are intense and seemingly unrelenting, there has never been a better time to be in aged care. New leaders and influencers have the opportunity to shape the future of Aged Care and set a new benchmark on how we treat, respect and value older Australians."

The Royal Commission into Aged Care articulated 148 recommendations and the sector is set to be given a $18 billion funding boost over the next four years.

Workforce capability, education and leadership remains at the core and will significantly impact the success of this overhaul.

Anchor Excellence is a small business making a big impact.

As well as contributing daily to aged care providers Australia wide, they have also extended the Eileen Kramer New Grad Scholarships which are now valued at over $12K.

This is a great example of a small organisation making an important inroads on the biggest issue facing the sector which is a skilled, diligent and caring workforce.

Cynthia Payne, Managing Director and CEO commented, "Anchor Excellence is all about enabling leaders and creating an aged care system to be proud of. Announcing the successful applicants on International Nurses Day is significant given the resilience that has been required over the last year and half and the resilience that will be required with all the reforms and changes that are underway. Nurses are essential to the future of the sector."

Congratulations to the successful Nurses, Jessica Kenner from NewDirection Care, Bindiya Magerjan from Gummun Place Hostel and Zoe Bouwmeester from Mayfield Aged Care.
