Aged care residents from Regis Port Stephens were delighted to be involved in the release of Elvis the green sea turtle back into the wild. The residents relish being involved in community projects and were elated to be part of this momentous occasion.
Elvis was found trapped in a net back in 2021 and has been nursed back to health by Sea Shelter Marine Hospital / Irukandji Shark and Ray Encounters located at Anna Bay.
Regis Port Stephens residents were invited to the release of Elvis and were given a wonderful briefing about what had happened to Elvis and a narrative about his recovery. Shortly after being placed on the sand at Fly Point, Elvis headed off into the bay to start his next chapter back in the wild.
